This is New Balance’s latest edition to the natural/minimalistic running game. The shoe is surely to be a hit. It’s light, flexible, and comfortable. Weighing in at 7.5 oz in a size 9.5 (Mens), the shoe is lighter than most of its competition. With only a 4mm drop from heal to forefoot, a mid-foot to forefoot strike is promoted. The shoe must be designed to be worn sock-less, as the inside is very soft and free from any “hang-ups” that may cause irritation. There is no insole in this shoe. The heal counter may be a bit stiff, and may cause slight irritation depending on the runner. The last is wider than that of the New Balance M100 and M101, which gives you more room in the toe-box which promotes proper foot strike. The mesh exterior on the upper is a great choice for the shoe in combination with Vibram rubber forming the “circular-atomic” lug pattern on the sole of the shoe. The sole is a bit thick, but may compensate for the lack of Rock-Stop that was in place for the M100 and M101. Overall a great-looking and great-fitting shoe by New Balance as they continue their journey down the minimalistic road. Another winner here. The new, redesigned Free Run+ is a little more rugged for longer durability, but it still stays true to the barefoot running style that made it so popular. This is going to be a great shoe for the 10 mile and under runs.

Save Money with Your Running Shoes The rule of thumb in replacing your running shoes is to find a new one when you have run at least 400-500 miles on your old ones. The more you care about your running shoes, the longer they will last. Here are some tips to make your shoes last longer : 1. Use your running shoes only for running. Even though running shoes are very comfortable, dont use them for everyday activities aside from running, jogging or working out. 2. Wear and take them off properly. Make sure you untie the laces before you take them off or wear them. The more your shoes are stressed with the tension brought by limited space, the faster they will wear off. 3. Do not use direct heat to dry off your shoes. If you wash your shoes or it gets wet, never dry them out on direct heat such as a radiator. 4. Alternate running shoes. Your running shoes will last longer when you provide them with enough time to breathe-out or decompress between your running routines. 5. Store your shoes properly. Store your running shoes in a cool, dry place away from moist and direct heat. 6. Never wash your shoes using the washing machine. If your running shoes need washing, use your hands to scrub off the dirt. Do not use strong detergents or hot water. Air dry is better that direct heat.
www.startrunning.com How long have human beings been running? Very long, probably longer than there have been human beings – Cro-magnon man was running. Was he wearing shoes? NO. Who’s in better shape – cro-magnon man or fat American of today? When were running shoes invented? The 1970s. Before running shoes in the 70s, we wore shoes with minimal support, just a rubber and a thin layer of leather, like what RunTellmanRun crew member Ben is wearing. Why are runners getting injured more and more frequently as running shoes get more and more developed? Because they attempt to overcompensate with overly engineered shoes for what our feet and legs were born to do. This leaves muscles from our feet to our back improperly developed. Because we’re sissy Americans who run in overpriced running sneakers. So do you want to listen to your doctor? Or eliminate running injuries by running barefoot? Up to you. And by the way, you might want to rethink what your doctor tells you if they’re not at least an avid marathoner. This is Tellman, telling you to start running.. dot com. http
www.runtellmanrun.com Hey this is Tellman! I have some news. Especially for my trainer Hank. I’m wearing running shoes today. My feet have been swelling, and this Saturday is the 100 on 100 relay race that I’ll be running with Ben Ibey and Tin Bourassa. I’ll be running 33 barefoot miles in one day – more than what I’m used to. So to prepare, I’m starting today’s run in sneakers. It’s been quite a while since I’ve run in sneakers.
