This is New Balance’s latest edition to the natural/minimalistic running game. The shoe is surely to be a hit. It’s light, flexible, and comfortable. Weighing in at 7.5 oz in a size 9.5 (Mens), the shoe is lighter than most of its competition. With only a 4mm drop from heal to forefoot, a mid-foot to forefoot strike is promoted. The shoe must be designed to be worn sock-less, as the inside is very soft and free from any “hang-ups” that may cause irritation. There is no insole in this shoe. The heal counter may be a bit stiff, and may cause slight irritation depending on the runner. The last is wider than that of the New Balance M100 and M101, which gives you more room in the toe-box which promotes proper foot strike. The mesh exterior on the upper is a great choice for the shoe in combination with Vibram rubber forming the “circular-atomic” lug pattern on the sole of the shoe. The sole is a bit thick, but may compensate for the lack of Rock-Stop that was in place for the M100 and M101. Overall a great-looking and great-fitting shoe by New Balance as they continue their journey down the minimalistic road. My Asics Gel Kayano 15 after one year of wearing. My weight is about 100 kg and these sports shoes can candle running of big dude like me.
Another winner here. The new, redesigned Free Run+ is a little more rugged for longer durability, but it still stays true to the barefoot running style that made it so popular. This is going to be a great shoe for the 10 mile and under runs.
